GMS is a cell-based church with an apostolic and prophetic mandate. It is a church empowered by the manifold gifts of the Holy Spirit, faithfully carrying out the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations.
Today, GMS has grown into a rapidly expanding congregation of more than 300,000 members. From cities throughout Indonesia to the continents of Asia, Australia, Europe, and America, GMS continues to advance the mission entrusted by the Lord: to establish 1,000 strong local churches with 1,000,000 disciples of Christ.

Ps. Philip Mantofa
Pastor Philip Mantofa was born in Surabaya on September 27, 1974. He attended schools in Taipei, Singapore, and got converted while in high school in Vancouver, Canada. Two years after graduating from Bible school, as riots broke out in Indonesia in May 1998, he decided to return to his homeland to preach the Gospel.
He currenlty serves as the Senior Pastor in GMS West Surabaya. He strives to fulfill the vision to build 1,000 strong local churches and 1,000,000 disciples of Christ, His heart is set on seeing nations experience the love of Jesus Christ.
